Who do we support?
Arden College provides individualised learning programmes for young people aged 16-25 years who have an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism.
Many of the current students at Arden College are on the autism spectrum, ranging from those with high functioning autism to those with complex behaviour needs.
Due to the very wide spread of ability of our learners, we work in a highly individualised way.
The admissions process
The admissions process at Arden College is designed to give learners maximum opportunity to make informed choices. In order to do that, we like to involve families and the young person in the process from as early on as possible.
We encourage families and the young person to visit prior to admission to get a feel for Arden College and ensure they feel it will be a good fit for them. If this goes well, we will conduct a needs assessment to review students’ needs and outcomes in line with their the EHC plan. Based on the findings of this process, we will then decide if Arden College is right for the individual.
Once decided, we would invite learners/parents/carers to officially apply for a place at Arden College via an application. The process would then include the Local Authority and the process of agreeing the place would begin.
On notification from the Local Authority that they agree the place at Arden College, we would then invite the leaner and family in for a transition meeting where we would begin to develop an individualised learning programme for the learner. Further transition meetings and visits would then take place, this does vary dependant on the learner.
