Aspris Telford School is situated in a tranquil, rural setting, surrounded by woodland. There is a grassed lawn area providing suitable space for pupils to play outside.
The building was previously an old forge that has been converted to provide a range of modern facilities, including five classrooms and a large open plan multi-purpose space, which incorporates a kitchen.
We offer full-time education with a bespoke curriculum for ages 11 – 19. We also work with local external provisions to offer further unique and enriching experiences for our young people. External provisions we can offer include:
- Horse riding and pony care
- Coaching at an amateur boxing club
- Kickboxing sessions
- Music producing, songwriting and audio recording workshops
- Art lessons and workshops at a local art studio
Therapeutic support
The school is committed to embedding a Trauma Informed approach to underpin a holistic therapeutic way of working. Staff undertake specialist training to enhance their skills and develop strategies.
There is a strong focus on meeting individual needs, providing consistency and helping learners to manage and regulate their behaviour. Staff build safe, positive professional relationships with young people, mentoring them to develop, progress and reengage with learning.
The school offers access to an external counsellor who has been working with us over the past 2 years and has a well-established relationship the school and students. Modalities available include Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Creative therapies.
Our school has multiple staff members trained in ‘Think Bricks’ LEGO therapy. ‘Think Bricks’ is all about building resilience, brick by brick. ‘Think Bricks’ empowers and inspires children to creatively build symbolic models to help them communicate and understand their thoughts, feelings, worries, aspirations, self – regulation, set goals and much more!
