Who do we support?
Hurworth House School provides education and care for up to 80 males and females aged 5 to 19 years. We have specialist experience is supporting young people with SEMH and behavioural difficulties, more specifically including:
- Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- complex needs such as attachment disorders,
- trauma or anxiety,
- autistic spectrum disorder (ASD),
- attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
We accept local and national referrals, in collaboration with a number of local and national authorities, and work with some of the most vulnerable young people.
The admissions process
After receiving a referral, the school will carry out an assessment of the young person based on information received and offer a visit to the school for each young person and their family/carers. This ensures we fully understand and are able to meet the young person’s needs whilst confirming that our setting is right for the young person. After making an offer, the school’s education and care staff work closely with the young person, their parents / carers and any external agencies involved to create a flexible package that will fully support the young person. A transition will be arranged which will meet the needs of the young person and ensure a successful placement in the school.
