Located in Southampton, Lawn House provides accommodation for up to six young people aged between 16 and 25 years. The facilities include:
- Six large bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities
- Two lounges
- A dining room and separate kitchen
- A games room
- Large garden to the rear
Our approach
Lawn House aims to offer high quality, targeted support for young people to meet their needs within a homely and caring environment.
The home has a strong belief in the importance of boundaries and routines for young people which are provided by a committed staff team offering leadership, guidance and positive role modelling to residents.
Objectives for young people are set against outcomes in consultation with placing authorities and parents/carers. These are to include completion of education, beginning employment, rehabilitation into the family home, reintegration into self-management whilst in the community on an independent basis, and the identification of any further supported care they may need when entering adulthood.
All young people are assigned an independent worker who takes a lead role in developing their journey through the service with them. Young people’s views should be sought and implemented into their care plans to help them develop a sense of worth but as the home’s purpose is so that they have the required skills to succeed in life.
Staff support
Residents are provided with 24 hour support and supervision from trained staff. During term-time, Lawn House residents either attend one of Priory's Post-16 hubs or one of the local colleges for their education.
Some young people may not be within education due to their age and may be within employment, which is encouraged as part of the Lawn House Independence programme.
Care staff can arrange transport for young people to and from the education sites, however we do encourage young people to arrange this unless it is deemed too far or unrealistic for whatever reason that may be.
All young people who will be placed at Lawn House must provide agreement to engage within the homes independence programme which is one of the main focuses of the homes objectives. Within this, all young people will at a pace which is suitable to them, begin working through four stages of independence. This provides all young people with the required skills, knowledge and expertise to be able to manage and function at an independent level which is suited to their own capacities.
