Introducing our two Head Teachers

Skechley School is split across three sites, managed by two Head Teachers. Please find below an introduction from each of our Head Teachers.

"I have over 23 years’ experience working in various teaching roles, including Class Teacher, Senior Teacher, Middle Leader and Assistant Head Teacher. For the majority of these years, I have worked within Aspris SEN schools, where I developed a passion for working with children and young people with autism.

As well as a PGCE Secondary in Physical Education Teaching from The University of Reading, I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Research in Education, a master’s in philosophy, Education Research (Autism), a Diploma in Psychology, and achieved National Professional Qualification for Head Teachers (NPQH). I am also currently studying for a National Award for SEN Coordination (SENCO) with The University of Birmingham.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing rugby, cycling and spending time with friends and family."

"I am immensely proud to be the interim Head Teacher at Sketchley School. I have worked here since 2011 and have seen first-hand the positive impact that the teachers and support staff have had on our children and young people. I am committed to the continued success of the school and will ensure all pupils receive the outstanding education they deserve.

I have worked with SEN children for around 17 years, initially volunteering at a local charity organisation in Leicestershire. It was here where my passions for working with SEN children and making a difference started. Before working at Sketchley School, I worked within a large local authority SEN school based in Leicestershire.

I am a qualified STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teacher, and have taught across the different Key Stages whilst being at Sketchley School. Over the last 4-5 years, I have primarily worked alongside the Mathematics and Science departments to deliver GCSEs and Functional Skills qualifications.

I joined the Senior Leadership Team in 2019-2020 and have gone on to complete the NPQSL (National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership) and have recently started my NPQH."
