Supported internship
Intent
To develop the skills to successfully progress into paid employment at the end of the year.
Implementation
Interns attend work three days a week. Specially trained work coaches facilitate on the job training to enable learners to develop the skills to be competent and confident in their job roles. A graded reduction in support will be carefully planned to enable the learner to work without support by the end of their programme.
Interns follow a two day college programme to enable them to develop the skills that are essential for maintaining and sustaining their potential employment in the future. Where appropriate interns also work towards qualifications that will support them in their chosen vocation.
