Our school offers an enrichment curriculum, encouraging young people to experience the joy of discovering an interest or passion outside of their academic life. We want our children to be life-long learners, who are open to new experiences and enjoy developing new skills and knowledge.
Our extensive grounds provide opportunities for rewarding life experiences that enable the delivery of social and emotional aspects of learning such as teamwork, tolerance, self-regulation, respect, independence and achievement, alongside our school curriculum. We have a forest school with additional sensory equipment, two horticulture areas with a polytunnel and other specific areas within our grounds that are used for den building, tree climbing, sensory play, outdoor sports and athletic activities, quiet walks and reflection areas.
By participating in a wide range of activities ranging from orienteering to horse-care; kayaking to nature walks; forest school to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, our students have additional time to develop important social skills and wider confidence in social situations. The activities foster an improved sense of belonging throughout the school community and into the local area. Forest school is a timetabled lesson for all of our students in Key Stages 2 to 4.
Our school and college has modern, well-equipped learning spaces, developed with our young people’s needs in mind. Teaching facilities are designed to facilitate our specialist and individualised practise using evidence-based approaches to teaching, and accommodates sensory issues.
