Located just a few miles from the market town of Monmouth, Gwent, Talocher School is an independent, specialist day provision for girls and boys aged 7 to 19 years with an autistic spectrum condition (ASC), behavioural, emotional and social difficulty (BESD) and/or associated complex need.
The school provides a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their additional learning needs (ALN).
When learners first arrive at Talocher School, most are dealing with a range of difficulties, compounded by their disaffection towards learning, their negative attitudes towards themselves and persons of authority and a history of interrupted education, including exclusion from mainstream schools. Due to these difficulties, many of our learners have previously been out of school for prolonged periods of time.
At Talocher School we support learners to acknowledge and develop lifelong strategies to help them overcome or cope with their specific difficulties. We support learners to break down barriers so that meaningful educational experiences and opportunities can be achieved by all learners at all ages, so that they can fulfil their potential and develop skills for a successful life.
