Encouraging a love of learning
At Kingsbrook School, we believe that everyone can learn and we work in partnership with the children and young people to address and overcome their barriers. Our focus is on providing a school experience that works for each student, building their confidence and restoring a love of learning.
Our multidisciplinary team undertake a thorough assessment of each child, enabling us to plan a highly personalised package of learning and support, tailored to their individual needs. Experienced and dedicated staff build positive and supportive relationships so that young people feel secure, valued and ready to learn.
The enriching learning opportunities we offer bring education to life, as well as broadening horizons promoting wellbeing and encouraging new interests. These include outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, archery and weekly work experience at an animal sanctuary and a farm. The school also hires a private swimming pool each week to develop confidence in the water without the overstimulation a public pool might entail.
As the young people learn in a range of environments, they are able to apply their learning outside of the classroom. Our students learn safely in different community settings, developing the confidence and everyday life skills for adulthood.
Kingsbrook School tracks and celebrates students’ achievements, both in terms of their academic studies and social and emotional learning. This approach helps to build young people’s awareness of their developing strengths, abilities and personal development. It makes learning feel rewarding and meaningful for our young people once more.
