A children’s home in Herefordshire has been praised by Ofsted for its “track record of providing a good standard of care”.
Ofsted, the education watchdog, said there was “good practice in all areas of care” with young people “making clear progress” and speaking “highly of the service and staff”.
Goodrich Manor accommodates five young people with behavioural or emotional difficulties and is one of three homes clustered around one of the Aspris’s own schools, Talocher School, in Wales which most young people attend.
Inspectors said: “Young people are happy in the home and make good progress. One said ‘The staff, the food, everything. Nothing could be better’. This is confirmed by external professionals.”
In their report, the Ofsted inspectors added: “The manager organises the service in a systematic and thorough way. This clear structure is appreciated by the staff and young people and is a key factor in young people achieving success.”
The home was rated as “good” in all four key criteria:
1. Outcomes for children and young people
2. Quality of care
3. Keeping children and young people safe
4. Leadership and management
Ofsted said “good” means “a service of high quality that exceeds minimum requirements”.
